We have an English threaded dDUB bottom bracket from BBInfinite. This is our newer style so the non-drive side, excuse me the drive side comes off like that and on the non-drive side we have the central tube is machined all in one piece onto this and this is going to help in case cables are going to rub and things like that so let's go ahead and install this one right now. I got the old bottom bracket out and I'm going to put a link down to videos that we made in the past on installing uh threaded bottom brackets that talk about things like chasing and facing and uh and what are the different materials you can use whether you want to put grease on here or Teflon tape which is what we're gonna do right now and all of those things so right now I'm gonna put on some Teflon tape a little quick school and putting on Teflon tape and you can make a note of the directionality so this is going to be the drive side because we're about to cover that up with this Teflon tape you want to put it on there so that so that as you're done putting it in it doesn't roll it off it's actually rolling into it so it doesn't want to bunch it up so uh let's go ahead and we're going to thread this in it's always a lot of fun watching somebody thread something in just going to snug this one into place like that and then I'm going to move on to the other side this one I've already put some Teflon tape on now you just want to take a little bit of grease for all of you grease lovers out there and just grease right along that mating surface because this is going to be sliding into that female side of the bottom bracket over there and you notice it has our dub these dub adapters for those for those of you who don't know you can pop these out well I guess when you're not trying to film it you can pop them out anyway you can pop them out just like that and it's a 30mm bearing. So, what this means is this bottom bracket - if you if you had a 30mm crank in there and you're like I want to get a power meter and I want to get a DUB. I get I can only find a DUB and you can go ahead and just convert the bottom bracket with these pieces very easily vice versa you go from DUB to 30mm makes it really easy that way and so I'm going to go ahead and start threading this bad boy in like that and you'll notice right here that we've got this offset over here okay this one is this one's very flat looking this one has the offset on it that is necessary for DUB to work properly okay we have done the math for you so don't worry if you have a DUB road crank these are going to work there is some variability with DUB mountain bike cranks believe it or not there is a um there are things like um for Cannondale's they are, you know super boost AI plus or super boost plus AI whatever and things like that which have a 123 spindle instead of the common 113 mountain bike spindle don't worry we've got adapters for that some of you are wondering what tool this is the tool interface for all of our threaded bottom brackets all of our English Italian whatever it is the park tools a bbt 69.2 or there's a Shimano tool any of them that are the classic 16 notch tools just like that now this torque wrench is set to uh 35 newton meters the torque range is 35 to 40 Nm. I like to brace the frame because I want to get an accurate torque output here so I don't want the frame moving like this while I'm torquing it okay I want to be able to draw down on it in a nice fluid motion just like that and get it to pop one time that's torqued okay but you know a lot of people like to recheck them once it breaks loose like that if you're using this type rather than a beam type don't like snug it a little extra because you just defeated the purpose of using a torque wrench so don't do that once it once it pops loose as long as it's properly calibrated it is delivering the torque it is supposed to let's torque the other side because this is not one of our one piece style bottom brackets because it's just not possible because of the way BSA is constructed there's no true drive sleep bushing in between the inner races the bearings like there is on all of our press fit DUB stop so the pre-loading of it is actually really critical very critical to the overall performance of it so uh right now I've got this bolt of course over here of course the fixing bolt is torqued to spec this is com the preload adjuster knob is completely loosened and what I'm going to do is I'm going to take a soft base hammer and I'm just going to bump the crank all over to one side to make sure that this is as free as can be and then I'm going to they're very nice about it they put a nice little uh a little arrow there to show you which way to go and then I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to tighten that down just enough to get rid of the axial play that's it okay we don't want to over we don't want to tighten the crap out of it because all it needs to do is keep the crank from moving in and out plunging back and forth so we just go ahead and tighten it down like that and then i am going to tighten it in place so that it is now pinched together and it won't back out that is done okay it doesn't need to be like quarter turn in or there's nothing fancy just turn it until it stops moving with everything forced over and then lock it down it's going to be fine you can't move over anymore now let's see how it spins well that's looking pretty good let's really spin it well you can say that's a huge improvement over the SRAM bottom bracket and that's just how it goes
