In this video, Gary installs an OSBB MTB PressFit30 BBInfinite module in a Specialized Epic. This is a full guide to the specialized MTB bottom bracket module installation, start to finish.
hi I'm Gary with BBInfinite and today we are going to install one of our BBInfinite modules in this beautiful Specialized Epic. Of course it's going to be the Specialized OSBB module which is specific to Specialized but this video is going to cover the general procedure that would apply to any BBInfinite module let's begin and now is a very critical time in the installation process we need to make sure that the BBInfinite module can go completely through the bike without any obstructions and it's important to look for any screws that might be sticking up or any loose materials and if there are any obstructions like this it's a screw if it's a bolt you need to remove it and if it's a little piece of molding flash or perhaps a bolt boss of any kind you just need to grind it down a little bit with the Dremel tools perfect for this we're now ready to install our BBInfinite module. The frame shell has been clean and grease free and any obstructions have been removed we have set up our press correctly for installation and our BBInfinite module is clean and grease free and as with every BBInfinite module it's imperative that you follow the installation instructions that were packaged with your module and all the BBInfinite modules installed from the non-drive side of the bicycle which gives this beautiful bezel a place to shine. Let's install it now so I want to start it in the frame by hand and just push it in as far as you can being very careful to make sure that it is square on all planes now it's time to insert the press and begin pressing you should go in fairly easily you shouldn't have to put a lot of pressure on it because the module is the correct size for this Frame. See I'm turning it with just a finger you're gonna want to stop when the module is about two-thirds of the way through I mean now it's time to apply the blocker just want to give the blue Locker a bit of a shake and just cut off the tip and you want to apply it very liberally to both the contact on the non-drive side of the module and to the inside of the frame shell itself. Now you want to reinsert the press and once you get started you're not going to want to stop until it's completely installed. Now you hear that cracking noise - a lot of people think that's a sound to be alarmed about - and I'm pausing right now only to let you know that that creaking sound and that little bit of cracking is completely normal that's the blue Locker working - lighting off a little bit at a time as you drive it into the frame let's keep going. Now the module is completely installed and you can disassemble the press now if you planned ahead you put the crank in the freezer to aid with installation I'm gonna go get it out now and we're going to install it it's now time to set the crank up you're going to want to force everything over to this side so that the adjuster is free to work. Give it a very light tap preferably with a soft face deadblow hammer- following a direction arrow we are going to go ahead and we're gonna increase the preload unlike other systems we want to put a lot of preload on this because there's a bushing in there that is going to resist compression we're not trying to find a happy medium with a wave washer or anything like that we're trying to really put a lot of pressure on so I want you to go ahead and tighten this down as tight as you possibly can with your fingers - do not use any kind of wrench or tool and then once you have it set the way you want go ahead and lock it down and this goes for any BBInfinite module that has the true drive sleeve installed don't be afraid to really crank the preload up - it's gonna stiffen your bottom bracket and really sweeten up the spin. This concludes our installation now the owner of this Epic gets to enjoy the bottom bracket that leads the industry and stiffness longevity and power transfer BBInfinite become infinitely faster
